Merv,
I started this thread with your post to give some context to what I'm talking about.......instead of rants, I would like to see ideas here
on how we can get better at what we do.
I also have a list of supplies that need to be on hand, for people putting on their own event for the first time if anyone needs it.
We probably won't be back At Phillippe Park again, and the other thread tells why.
-----------------------------------------------
I like going to the JDM meets 'cuz there's some decent people and some cool cars. I can appreciate the time a person spends working on their ride
and I like all kinds of cars.
--------------------------------
I'm the guy with the sombrero, who spent the day cooking, but have a few thoughts...........we are just talking, here....
Based on past JDM's, Once we reached 150 signed up, we started having hundreds show up.........200.....300......400....plus..... On Sunday, we could have used another box of burgers/buns and a couple cases of sodas.
1. Where ever we go next time, we might reserve two adjoining pavilions next to each other under different names, but still do the cooking in one place. That way we spread out the parking. The park people are concerned about their grass fields catching fire as well as being mowed
by jerks, and we won't be parking there again.
2. Maybe reserve spots closer to the entrance, so when jerks leave, they do their street masturbating outside, instead of all the way out of the place in front of a "law-abiding-citizen" audience.
3. Maybe it's time to hire a deputy for a visible presence early, as people come in at the entrance, and later for "squirrel patrol" to cruise the entrance/exit roads.....
4. Maybe it's time to split into regional JDM's and alternate locations,
to reduce numbers at a particular spot. Do we know where people come from?.......and where future/multiple locations might be in Florida?
5. Maybe it's time to start having cookouts on private property,
where we can control traffic, maybe sign people in, maybe video
them and their car upon entry..............and for sure we will have to pay
something to rent it.........and will have to pay something to get in....
,,,,,and that's going to slow down the turnout.
6. Maybe it's time to sell "dollar-a-dog"/"two-buck-burger"/ wrist bands
and only the first 150 get them.....plus a limited number sold at the entrance.
Just tossing up a few ideas........-Bob
