The cop gave you a break. If the cop gave me a break, I wouldn't fight it.
If you drag him into court when a cop gives you a break, you are teaching
him NOT to give someone any breaks...........and eventually they don't give people a break.
Getting a lesser charge on the roadside is a form of plea bargaining, where the cop is essentially saying, "I'm giving you a lesser charge, in return for you giving me......no court appearance.....don't fight me on this".
If he wrote it as "failure to obey a traffic control device" it carries less points, lower fine and looks better to your insurance company.......
than the alternative "unlawful speed" which carries more points, higher fine and you know for sure that your insurance company will screw you for the next three years.......
The "traffic control device" was a speed limit sign in this case,
it could have been any sign........
