Now as far as german engineering vs. american, lilgreendude. I know your not trying to compare c5's and fbodies to bmw's right? That would be like apples and oranges as far as I'm concerned. Your fbody's window wouldnt roll up, common problem, and apprently that why you got rid of it? Then you test drove "A" vette with 30k miles on it. Does that mean all c5s r pieces of junk? So, let me get this straight, your basing your whole reasoning behind american engineering sucks compared to german by way of 1 test drive and a power window? lmfao, your a funny guy.
HEH! Thanks, my sense of humor is one of my more popular traits but I was serious and that's based upon 20 years of driving, not one or 2 random samples. I've seen everything from headlights pop out while coming to a stop to engines that ran better on 5 cylinders than the designed 6. I've had CV joints just pop out while making a turn with no previous indication of them failing, to the last 2 American vehicles I've bought making multiple rattling noises well under 30K miles. Incidently, I buy brand new not used so there's no excuse for these. Our current other vehicle is an '02 Trailblazer and it's been making a rattling noise for the last 20k miles and it only has @ 23K on it. Worse yet, the dealership can't even get it to stay fixed and all it's supposed to be is a hood alignment adjuster. WTF, can't ASE certified mechanics even fix a freaking spring?
So, you didn't buy your german car to race anyone, you bought it for prestige or what??? Which gets me to wondering. Why are you here anyway? This website is called tamparacing.com, dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.
I bought it because I like it. In fact, I only went for a test drive and was so impressed I applied for a loan the same day. And I post here because there are lots of interesting people and I might just learn something along the way too. In fact (part deux), I've already learned quite a bit on how to mod mine once I decide to, so if it's not too much trouble I'll hold that door for you.
Porche's .. badass cars, handle nice and it also does come with alot of recognition, but .. you paid 80k for your car, and the car i paid 3k for shouldn't beat any porche in any aspect of driving whether it being handling, braking, or acceleration, and apparently with the times i researched my car will take one in a straight line ON PAPER, which is SAD. (keep in mind my car is valued at less than 4% of what an 80k n/a porche is worth)
It's not ALL about racing vs. $$. If that was the case, anything worth more than $10k would clean your clock. I'm not saying that to dis your ride but to make a simple analogy. There are lots of examples of less expensive cars whooping it up on razzle dazzle sports cars. Even a $25k WRX can give a $60k vette a run (0-60) for it's money so obviously simple $$ and HP isn't what it's all about to everyone.
Regards.
