i work at ferman bmw, and let me tell you this. no doubt the cars are nice and worth alot of what you pay, but when that wonderful german engineering goes wrong, first of all, you get raped out the ass for the fix. you know, you cannot do a oil change on any of the later model bmws at home unless it happens to be a 2001 328i with navigation. those 3 series you can do it through the car with out resetting it. the rest, you must take it to a dealer to reset the oil light. and the cars are a pain in the ass to work on. people say to me, yes but i get all new rotors and pads every brake service, they just dont turn them. and tires, if i get a nail in my tire, i get 4 new ones under warrenty. well, you sure as hell pay for all those unneeded things when you buy the damn car. me, i will stick with my american made, work on my own damn car mustang. yes, i would rather support the american economy, and turn wrenches when it needs it, yes it might be a little more often then your bmw, but a hell of a lot cheaper. not trying to start a fight or anything, just giving my 2 cents.
Yes, you're correct on what you say man. Parts that are outta warranty are very expensive along with labor. But when you get a 100,000 warranty on a CPO'd along with the rest of the factory warranty, it's a deal that's pretty hard to beat. They're definitely not for everyone, but I think those of us that have made the step are pretty pleased.
Thanks for an excellent reply. I didn't realize how "bad" my post sounded until I just re-read it.
