Great article! I have read this a couple times before and try to emulate the concepts as best I can on the street, even when riding alone. I wish more sport bike riders left their homes with these concepts in mind instead of with a competative, look how fast I am, attitude. It would do a lot to make our sport safer and promote a positive image.
One thing that cannot be stressed enough is think of your fellow riders when you are out riding. Nobody is impressed if you blow past everyone doing triple digits on the straights and then block everybody in the corners. I am sure we have all experienced that at some time or another as I would say I experience it at least once about half of the time I go on a North run.
Damn squids cannot stand doing less than 100mph on the staights and then slam on the brakes to do 30mph around a 70mph corner!
One final note is I find the best thing to do when I encounter a group of riders that don't seem to understand The Pace is to go as slow as possible on the straights to let them get as far ahead as I can before I hit a corner. This technique works well when stuck behind a car or truck that is not safe to pass as well as it gives you a clear run through the corners, then you can try to pass again on the next long straight if there is no oncoming traffic.
