I'm building it for 95% duribility, 3% for cheaper parts, and 2% for performance.
The way I end up, I'd spend the $200 on a cam ( which would be an idle to 4000RPM ALL TORQUE cam anyway ), then I'd "go ahead" and replace the lifters, and prob. "go ahead" and get some roller rockers, and at the end of the day, I just want a perfect running normal idling, normal driving 5.0L motor that reliable.
I did think about the cam though... I was thinking about calling comp cams and saying " this motor will never see above 5000rpms, and I want the best torque I can get from idle to 4000rpms ".
If I wanted a bit more, I'd do the whole GT-40 threatmeant. Matter of fact, I could have gotten a FREE explorer intake/TB ( basiclly the same as a 93' cobra ), but I don't want anything but a reliable, predictable V8 for the jeep.
Jamie... The jeep was 3440LBS. with the 4.0L. The 5.0L is 65LBS. lighter, so it should actully be about as fast as a SN95 when I fix the gear ratios ( 3:07s right now, ford 8.8 soon to come ).
