Actually, Ford added a third shift to their Focus plant. That means they are producing Foci 24 hours a day. They are selling pretty well.
The Focus, even though it's platform is 10 years old is still a decent commuter car. 35mpg from a class leading and rev happy 2.0 DOHC ZETEC powerplant making 140HP, a proven and responsive chassis, good fit & finish, all at a price that is about $8g less than a Civic and a good $5G less than a comparably equipped Corrolla. And base vs. base it'll outrun either of them.
What people don't realize is that Ford produces a great line of cars in other parts of the world, leaving us with the lesser of their offerings. This is the same Ford that will be building this 300HP AWD Focus for the Euro market:

Americans constantly ask, "Why don't they sell these Fords here?!" The short answer is, because automotive-ignorant dumbasses in the U.S. think Fords are crap and would rather buy an overrated and over-priced Honda or Toyota all because they have a ill conceived notion that Fords are crap. Until Americans get it through their thick heads that Ford is a viable maker of good and reliable cars, and are willing to see Ford in the same light as the Europeans do, we will never see the kinds of cars that Ford builds elsewhere.
