Well unless you got a freak sr starter that has the security shit on it all the sr starters are made by hitachi and since they're all oem they'll have the sticker on them to id them as such.

When you order a new ka starter ask for hitachi. Unless you get the cheapest reman (worldclass does them for all the chain parts stores) then it's luck of the draw if you get hitachi or mitsubishi.

Considering a new sr starter is $600 and a reman'd ka starter is $139 I think it's worth the waste of time to undo two bolts on a ka starter to find out. Or just pay a little more for the hitachi straight up. Or just keep throwing used starters at your car, if replacing them every six months is your thing.
