The GD was a good chassis and with the proper underpinnings (strut bars, sways, chassis "arm" bars, etc) could be very rigid indeed, from what I've read. Would love to drop the current STi power and drive train into the last gen Impreza chassis. With a little hammering to the tranny tunnel, I've heard it bolts right up. Once my WRX is done...maybe I'll take on that challenge instead of house shopping. Hmmm...

p.s. Forget hood scoops. Once you've got your FMIC in, look for something to take the heat out. I'm probably going to go with the Aqua drop in extractor or a replica for under $200 until I can find a better deal on the Kaminari hood. I lust for that hood, damnit!!!
