Both are important. But low end torque makes any car easier to drive, no doubt, and I can bet this rotary doesnt have much.
i will be the first to say an N/A rotary just plain old SUCKS, unless it is BUILT (which 225 out of a rotary is tops (excluding the new rx8 ) and in a 1200lbs car... that is the ONLY way to make an NA rotary any fun at all... other than that turbo the fuck out of them!!!
