What it does is take the focus away from post count.. and moves it to tech related posts.. you get alot more points for posting in a tech forum than say FFA.. infact in FFA you need to make alot mreo characters in a post to even get a point at all..

its working ery well so far.. all our other forums have renewed activity..

it wont encourage post whoring because we are going to have moderators who are ALOT more active in there tech forums.. organising meets.. making at least 2 tech / new related posts a day.. and moderating so that post whoring doesnt take place (in a nice tactful kind of way)

there is another side of this mod we have chosen not to implement right now.. we have quality points.. there is also SPAM points.. it works exactly the opposite.. in a tech forum.. you'd get next to none spam points.. only gain a spam point if you post under the minimum character limit.. in FFA.. posting under the limit gets you more SPAM points.. we could then do quality - spam = over all posting effectiveness.. and have it display a graphic of some kind..

but were not up to that stage yet.. not even sure we need to go that far..

as for post whoring.. kinda hard to post whore when in FFa you need over 1000 characters to get any kind of reasonable points.. and posting gibberish will have one of our mods remove it .. cant type that many 1000 character posts in a day.. hence this should actually reduce some of the crap.. maybe just a little..

anyhow.. main idea is to get users back into the Tech forums.
It's a nice idea but I really don't see what this whole love affair with the tech forums is all of a sudden. The majority of our memberbase doesn't know their ass from a socket-wrench and forcing them to troll the tech forums for points is just going to further degrade the forums. You say there's been an increase in posting in tech, well no shit. But I wouldn't call it quality. Most of the posts I've seen have just been off-topic, incorrect info, or simply a rehashing of the correct info some knowledgable soul already gave. Tampa Racing has become a community for auto enthusiasts, of which some members are tech oriented, some race oriented, some style oriented, etc. It seems that you're now just trying to force everyone into the tech forums when most are completely unsuited for it. Why? Do you think that this will give Tampa Racing a more mature image? I just don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here.

Also...as a side note. This 1000 word limit thing is just going to further force Tony to be long-winded...
