Two motorcylists injured in early morning crash
LUTZ -- A 42-year-old man was left in critical condition and a 34-year-old seriously injured after their Harley Davidson
motorcycles slammed into each other around 1 a.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said John J. Odonnell of Odessa was driving his 1986 Harley northbound in the outside lane of U.S. Highway 41 behind the 2004 Harley of Chad M. Canady of Wesley Chapel when Odonnell struck Canady. Both drivers were thrown off their bikes.
The motorcyclists landed on the road's grassy shoulder facing west. Odonnell's bike veered off onto the northeast shoulder and stopped when it hit a power pole. Canady's bike slid several hundred feet before coming to rest facing north in the outside shoulder of the road.
Odonnell was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition, and Canady was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in serious condition.
