You could always run it in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 2 that's what I do for most of my conflicting programs.

Just right click on the program you are trying to run click the compatibility tab then select windows xp service pack 2 from the drop down menu. I always like to click run as administrator too just to remove any goofy priviledges
