Yeah, but driving a car with a rod-knock 280 miles will usually change something from being covered by warranty, to not being covered by warranty as it's the customers responsibility to have a problem addresses as soon as it is discovered...not 280 miles later.
Whatever caused the original problem was likely a defect...the damaged caused by 280 miles of the rod knocking around in the block is abuse.
