Would you have preferred more formal titles, such as "the operator and participants of unlawful gambling" ?
You're operating a raffle, which is a chance game, and is gambling.
The "donors" are participating in the said gambling.
Whether they'll do anything, who knows, although you seem to be implying, "Joe's wrong, he should be arrested, but we should be able to disregard laws we don't agree with..."
Sounds to me that some members apparently think that Joe should be "thrown in jail" without the proper due process, but you should either participate or not participate and not comment about lawfulness of a gambling activity that supports the popular side of the battle.
