I am not trying to defend the kid, I am just saying that this is getting way out of hand between the internet tough guys issuing threats, and the felating of the OP's ego. This kid deserves to be punished and he will be punished justly. But you need to think of the long term repercussions of all of this.
Say Hypotheticallly the kid goes away for 5 years. Serves his time, reforms, realizes the mistakes he has made and attempts to remedy them. He already would have a felony record just for this instance alone, and would never be able to seek any decent long term profession. He realizes he can never go into business for himself ever because everyone knows his name and rep, and no one will ever do any dealings with him even if he turned a new leaf and tried to go legit. People in the local area for sure will never hire him because he is a total liability in both trust for this incident, and security since so many of you internet tough guys want to kick the shit out of him. The best option for this kid is either to commit suicide, or never show his face ANYWHERE ever again. Even as a reformed felon the kid is completely fucked.
As I said I am not trying to defend this kid but he didnt deserve this national noteriety.
TL;DR - I feal sorry for this kid. Dispite his crime. And the OP set himself up to be scammed in this instance.
Sigh...you said you read the whole thing? then why are you bringing up the same thing that has been brought up like............ohhhhh ~300 times now....that the OP was stupid for not taking a Downpayment? And after all those ~300 times the OP has stated that yes he agree's he was not smart taking the risk that he did to trust someone and take them for their word that they have the money to pay for this. I work on computers and take computers in and do work maybe not to the level of Japworks ....and 16k...but sometimes 2k worth of work. And in this industry sometimes you have to have Faith that they will pay. You try your best to get a DP...and sometimes you end up losing business that way....sometimes you get business...and sometimes you get those that can't pay. Unfortunately you have to sometimes pick and choose. And you try to TRUST those that you can. The ones that you LEAST LIKELY suspect that you would have problems with....sometimes are the ones that scam you...or leave you in the dust....Think about it this way dood...WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMMING TO that we can not trust any human beings and can't take them at face value these days?
We have Credit scores because there's people like joe...and aparently Joe's mom who now doesnt care that the car gets repo'ed as long as japworks doesnt get the money?
Whats wrong with people like joe that they have to habbitually Lie, Cheat, and Steal? That we can't take Anyone for their word...?

You have to applaud the OP for trying to be a trusting guy. Unfortunately it is society that has broken the Human race. We cant leave our kids at the playground without being 10 feet away these days. We cant leave our front doors at home unlocked....and without and alarm these days because of people like joe. We dont even feel safe in our own homes these days and have to have a baseball bat by the bed, or a gun under the pillow. If there were less people with joe's attitude and behaviour...then we could live in a better society.
