Honda already had the "prius" and still does. Honda Civic Hybrid - II (HCH-II), its not quite as good as the Prius in some areas though.

they also had the Iinsight which is still the hypermilers car of choice for those who cant afford a $25K pruis... and the insights are still getting upwards of 100 MPG with ease.

Which do you think the market will buy more of, something like the Prius, regardless of how it looks, or a hot looking 500 HP Z/28 ?

The performance car market is slowing down pretty much.. everytime you add HP to your car, you take money out of your pocket... there are exceptions but more Performance cars get fucking stupid fuel economy. The FE market though, improving your FE puts money back in your pocket.. and its much more accessible to a wider range of people. that market is going to boom over the next 1-5 years and the smart auto makers are already cancelling and scrapping trucks and performance cars and increasing their FE cars production. New products like what ever this honda is are smart moves.
