No you wont be able to just join up as a cop . You'll have to start working phones or community patrol accounting or something the apply within I know a few people working for the sherriff in orange county that did it that way. It's alot harder that way. Ever thought about the military you dont have to be army or marines alot of coast guard guys get police jobs when they get out because it is so close to being a police officer.
