I would only really drive the thing on the weekend and I would probably track the car as much as I could afford. I have never driven one though, so I was looking for advice. I've heard they have shitty drivetrains, but I've heard a lot of bad things about the car I own too and I still love it. All part of the fun. Just looking for advice, thanks.
Ill put it like this, quoteing something a friend told me that made a lot of sense to me...
" AWD is great at everything, but not excellent at anything"
For just a weekend/ track car a 1st gen dsm isnt a bad choice.
You can make them run 12's and low 11s without too much concern on the stock block and drivetrain as long as your not abusing it irregularly.
Now personally, 10.99s and lower and I think the bad sides of the drive train will really begin to show face. But the lighter your car, and the more you know how to preload your launches the longer they will last.
Dont set your goal on how much power you want to make, and instead on how fast you want to go. To simplify, give us a idea of what type of times you want to be running on the track and me, or someone else could better inform you of what to expect.
Oh and Im no were near 500hp but you can test drive my dsm if you let me take the NSX for a spin
