As far as C&C - they all seem a tad overexposed, mainly in the sky. Your subjects all seem to be pretty well exposed. If I were in the same position I'd consider waiting till a different part of the day, but that's usually not possible.

Do you use the highlights or histogram functions? Those might help you along a bit, especially since camera screens are relatively small, and they're usually hard to see if the sun is shining directly.
