yes it will fit both...ive fit the d16y8 valve cover on my d16z6 motor and vice versa.

The d16z6 valve cover has the BIG VTEC on top of the Honda, and was the cool valve cover to have.

Im not sure about all the other D series, but they do fit interchangeably between the SOHC vtec motors.
