I would have just turned some 7075 round stock in a lathe tapped one end and thread the other...it would then be a screw on piece and still bepurty
cool beans though. That's part of the reason I like the stock 6-spd shifter in my car...the shifter is high and about the same level as the bottom of my wheel.
