Lower speed limits will lead to higher gas prices. America's not the only nation on Earth. If we start conserving, there will be more oil available to the rest of the world. Many other nations have higher rates of GDP growth than the U.S., and would be happy to have a more abundant supply of petroleum at a lower price. Their rate of fuel consumption will grow faster than ours, and in turn would cause our gas prices to rise even faster in the long term. Punch your congressman in the jimmy if he wants to lower speed limits.
