To make the swap as easy as possible I strongly recommend another V10. Gas mileage between V10 and 5.4 in a 3/4 ton truck isnt going to be much different,.. will be pretty bad no matter what.


Swapping in a 5.4 you will need the complete engine and tranny harness from the 5.4. The V10 tranny will bolt up to the 5.4 with out any problems. You will also need the computer from the 5.4 motor and more then likely the dash harness also because the pin outs where the engine harness plugs into the computer harness will more then likely be different between the two. Even then there will more then likely be modifications and wire chasing to get everything working right. You may also need a gauge cluster from a 5.4 truck also.
