I won't bore you with the translated gibberish, here is the info.
The guys over at grassroots Motorsport tested the federal 595-RS a few months back, and I have been lobbying to get the higher end RS-R which is 140 tread wear versus the previous tires 180 tread wear. the RS-R also has a stiffer carcass. considering the old tire was close to the Azenis in performance this one should be spot-on or even a little better. best part, they are close to $20 less per corner.
$20 less per corner puts it smack in the price range of the next most popular budget performance tire the hankook RS2 (Z212) the prior version of the federal was exactly the same lap times as the Hankook, (roughly 4/10's slower then the azenis on a typical auto-X course.)
Given the engineering changes this is going to upset the Street tire apple cart. since like a Crack dealer Falken got us hooked and has been consistently raising their prices, while I applaud their effort to move their product up-market. and they even released a lower brand "Visa" to take their prior position as a budget offering. The value leader Azenis, just isn't anymore.
And if you follow international currency markets like I do, you'll also know that unlike the Japanese Yen and Korean Won. The Taiwanese dollar follows our currency closer then the others. so the exchange rate is still absurdly favorable at a 3:1 ratio
Federal makes slicks and Race tires for other markets so they are not completely shooting from the hip here. I'm excited, this is a HUGE deal for those of us that want killer street tires but hate paying for them.
I am not going to add them to the website until they start stocking at the local warehouse, BUT they are here in the states and we can special order them at the low price. and no shipping since they will ship them to the local warehouse for free where I pick them up.
Like I said I'm not proficient in Tiwaneese, but apparently if you are a large american, and buy federal tires girls think you are hot.
