as for buying an STi for auto-x and road course use I will stress buying an 05+ as they have the stronger hubs with larger wheel bearings...the helps prolong bearing life, which becomes and issue on altered suspension with big sticky tires. Also you have the 5x114.3 (instead of 5x100) bolt pattern which gives you a better selection of riims and wide widths (9"+)
