good luck finding a cheap starter for the MK3... we laid out $170 for a Reman starter w/ lifetime warranty at Discount auto... its probably the starter causing problems though, the plungers in the solenoid wear out and dont always make contact and dont complete the cirucuit necessary to power the motor that will turn the engine over.
