Christ died, was placed in a tomb, and rose from the dead for your sins. No other reason. He COULD have come back and completely destroyed the whole place, but he didn't. He showed compassion and love.
The rabbit is to symbolize vitality and that we are to populate the earth. The egg is a symbol of life.
Now, neither Jesus NOR God said that we are to celebrate with those two symbols. Therld didn't know how to do it with out offending anyone, so they made those two things up.
Maybe there's more to it than I am writing here, but thats the basic gyst of it.
