I wired mine up to a relay with a jumper that goes to a hot power source when the vehicle is keyed on. Wiring it to a relay is always a good idea, that way you can get the full voltage right from the battery and the signal wire doesn't really pull any amps away from what you're jumpering it from. Jumping a hot lead off of the already over-taxed fuel pump wiring is a bad idea.

I really can't remember the CFM rating on the fan but it seems to pull just as hard as anything else out there.
