AMELIA ISLAND, Florida — One of the more intriguing unveilings recently has been the debut of the Iconic GTR, which its makers tout as an All-American offering that harks back to traditional American muscle cars.
It seems to take its exterior cues from classic Shelbys. But perhaps of greater interest are the many postmodern features, from the GTR's computerized gas cap control that eliminates the need to open the cap with your hand, to a door hinge engineered to "aerospace-quality tolerances."
The Iconic GTR, which has a 2,200-pound curb weight, is powered by a 6.9-liter all-aluminum V8 and is said to have a maximum speed of 200-plus mph. Other details include an F1-derived racing suspension and torsional rigidity approaching 80 percent of a typical Formula 1 racing car, according to the company. The cabin gets an eye-popping shifter "designed to be on display as industrial artwork."
The company says it will build only 100 units. Pricing has not yet been announced.
