I had owned a finicky modified car for five years and I was tired of having to fiddle with it all the time to keep it running right. I wanted something reliable, economical, RWD and fun to drive. Oh, it also had to be cheap, under $2,000 if possible. My first choice was a 1.6l Miata, maybe a 1.8l if I could find a great deal on one. Then I went and sat in one, or rather ON one, and realized it wasn't the car for me at almost 6'4.

Back when I bought my old DSM it was between a DSM, a 5.0 stang, and a 240. I wanted a turbo car so I went with the DSM because it was factory turbocharged. The turbo V8 5.0 was a total pipe dream at the time, well beyond my capabilities even in my imagination. I would've gotten the 240 but I didn't think I was capable of doing an engine swap. I put too much thought into the decision and not enough emotion- out of the three I liked the 240 best.

Having ruled out the Miata I went looking for a 240, found a bunch of riced out drifted out whore cars, got discouraged. Then I found what looked like an unmolested 240 base model coupe out in Orlando, went and checked it out and jumped on it. In reality it wasn't as unmolested as I thought, but other than needing a little bit of regular maintenance and having to fix up one or two amateur repair jobs perpetrated by the previous owner it's been good to me. It's also taught me that there's more to enjoying a car than having eleventeen-hundred horsepower and rock hard suspension and super wide cheater slicks and driving 200 MPH everywhere.

I've spent the last nine months figuring out what to do with the car and I've decided I enjoy the car enough in stock form that I'm pretty much going to keep it that way. I'm going to do a basic I/H/E and get XAT to chip it with a 93 octane tune. I'm going to get some stock alloy wheels to replace my steelies and throw some Azenis or RS-2s or something on them. I might lower it an inch or so on some H&R springs on the GR-2s I put on last December. I'm also going to start looking for a VLSD in the junkyard. Finally I'm thinking about splurging and buying a Silvia front end and getting the car painted a dark metallic silver color. I'm not sure on the last one because my cars have always looked like shit and I kinda like being able to drive and park anywhere and not having to worry about it.
