being a mechanic who often worked very late hours, I have tons of ghetto fix stories. Hockey pucks for engine mounts, zip ties in place of bolts, and on and on...
but the best was when I was 4 years old. My dad had a Honda scooter (new at the time). Well, the bolt that held the exhaust up rattled loose and we could not find a replacement. I suggested jamming a screw driver in, which worked for awhile but fell off after an hour. So I offered my shoe lace, which he wrapped through the bolt hole as many times as he could. We had a good 1.5 hour ride home, which it made it almost all the way before burning through. I thought that was pretty cool I was fixing stuff at such a young age
