When you get a tune Snowman will adjust your boost to a curve....meaning it will peak around 18-19, but taper back down to 14-15 at redline. A manual boost controller will run whatever boost you set it to all the way till redline..not to mention will get no extra fuel/air, or timing. That's a good way to break a lot of potential shit with a cheap $50 mod.
Snowman tuned is the way to go and you will be very happy. If anything invest in an electronic boost control solenoid, which will actually help him with the tune.

the only subaru i would even consider throwing a boost controller on would be a 02 WRX. Thats the only car you wont destroy by using one. Anything past that, the ECU wont like it and you'll break something.
