alright, i got it. i went online and most people said to use a rachet extension or pry bar, but everytime i pushed it would slip off the tensioner pully b/c it is free floating. the perfect solution turned out to be a tire iron/tire spoon. it's curved tip goes around the pulley and doesn't slip. and it was long enough to get great leverage. i pushed with one hand, belt went on with other. all the other s10/blazer owners said it took two guys to do it, even with a pry bar and even then it was hard to get the belt on. it took me a whole 10 seconds. hope this helps anybody else not familiar with springloaded belt tensioners.
