sounds like the alternator or battery is on the way out.

Do you rheadlights dim while the system is playing? check with the car in park at idle - turn the volume up, are the headlights dimming?

Then rev the engine up to 2200RPM while still in idle - turn the stereo up again. Are they dimming while revved up?
