I think that the "cubic inch/pound" thing that came up in the other thread(?) was pretty interesting.
I also think that a "single power adder" should be the limitation of said "budget" class. However, that's going to get some mixed reviews - because for example, any '03 Cobra w/a FACTORY supercharger only ADDS one power adder (nitrous) but would technically have "two" power adders on the car (even though one was factory).
I think that stock suspension (no back half, no tubs), with a limitation on tire would be cool. You could even go as far as getting, say, Mickey Thompson to sponsor the event/series, and have it be a requirement that the car(s) competing run a specific series of tire from M/T. <~~just a thought on how to increase exposure and revenue for the event, also increase prize money possibly.
I think a "quarterly" race would be rad. It would be distanced far enough apart from one-another, that the "budget racer" would have enough time to save money, repair, fix, update, replace - etc... And still make it to the next scheduled event.
Furthermore, I think that a points system would be cool - it would promote consistency in the event amongst the "budget racers" and promote them to attend EACH event. Obviously a purse at each event would be ideal, with a larger, more coveted purse/prize package for the POINTS winner.
That's all I got for now...
SCOTT - Thanks in advance for taking on this type of obstacle. I look forward to the outcome, and look forward to being able to race in the new class as well
