The cubic inches really doesnt have my say in if its a small block or a big block. You can in theory make a big block 121ci (2 liters) if you really wanted to, by giving it a stroke of a 1 inch (rough guess). Remember Cubic inches displacement= #of cylinders X 0.7584 X bore^2 X stroke

The only major difference on the chevy side of things are the difference in space from the center of one bore to the center of the next bore, which is larger in a bigblock hence making the block itself larger dimensionally.
