I read that whole thread hoping someone would answer this but it I didnt see it.

How was the driver not charged with grand theft auto? He was driving a car he did not own, and had no permission from the owner. He just told the cop he worked at a shop that was working on the car? How the hell does that fly? And why didnt the cops call her right then and there and atleast tell her some guy just wrecked her car?
