in the center of the pic you can see the shiny part of the crank where the connecting rod goes. This area should be smooth and polished to almost mirror. compare it with the two on either side notice the lines going across the center one? there are two pieces of metal (rod bearing) that are supposed to surround the crank protecting the rod and the crank from each other.
well one spun over the other and due to heat they kinda welded to each other.
