Last night I went to start my car to go to a friends house and noticed as I turned the key to start the motor there was a split second of weak hesitation however the motor turned over and the car drove normal. However leaving to come home I get in my car and turn the key, the engine or something made a loud constant ticking sound as I tried to start it. The car did not try and turn over at all, simply made the loud ticking sound...

This is a 1999 Honda Civic EX (bone stock) and have never heard or experience this before. I don't know if its the starter because the noise is coming from the engine but who knows - it could be the starter or just weak battery but I have never heard a dead / weak battery make that noise before.

My lights and radio all still worked but I could think that perhaps the battery just did not have enough power to turn the motor.

Anyone know what is wrong with my car?
