My car runs ok in this weather. I only work like 1.5-2 miles from my house, so my car never gets to normal operating temp. Also, I don't go anywhere else because its freezing lol.
It has a hard start-up in the mornings, and I have to wait a little while before I can go. I don't have a thermostat, so as soon as I start moving the temp drops doooowwwn. So with the car not up to temp, I don't beat on it or anything. Plus, I'm not tuned for WOT yet, let alone 30-40 degree intake temps at the turbo that would probably lean it out.
Requarding what you just said, What a mess... LoL
Get a thermostat, its not good to drive your engine with it not at operating tempurature. The engineers who designed this stuff ment it to operate between a certain range for a reason. And I hope EVERYONE lets the car fully warm up before ever getting on it. I dont even take off out of my drive way in the mourning until it reaches at least the first notch on the stock coolant temp gauge. Believe it or not, not letting engines warm up before driving is the number one cause of long term engine failure reguardless of the engine type/size. A turbo timer can help with this, go start the car and then set the TT on like 5mins, pull the key out and finished getting read for work/school while your car runs with no key in it ! As far as leaning out air fuel ratios with colder air, this is true but it shouldnt be that significant unless you were already running on the edge of your injectors flow capacity. I run 850cc's on a evo3 so Im not worried about anything leaning on me except my head when i hit boost. LoL
