So 3 days ago I decided I would move my old C10 Colt turbo home.
I'm in the middle of a 4g63 swap right now. ( My original goal. I had NO intention of using the old g32b.)
The fun started when I fired the car up, and noticed the head was dry, and The oil level was full.
I wasn't mad because the engine was getting destroyed, more that It would be unlikely I could limp the car home on its current engine.
For the record: High mileage factory turbo cars that were owned by a woman who doesn't know the oil cap doesn't say 710 ( think about it . OIL, 710....)
Basically she unintentionally drove this car with no oil for long periods of time.
Ok.
So I figure I will have some fun, and try to drive the '' Makes every horrible noise you don't want to hear'' car home.
My house in St. Pete is 43 mi. from where the car was parked in north Port Richey ( Think: Hudson.)
I got to the nearest stop sign ( roughly 100 yards out of the 43mi. I had to drive) and it shuts off.
In the middle of laughing, my friend behind me pushes my car for 10 blocks with his car and it finally starts again.
Knocking? Not really...
More like squealing and... Automatic cylinder boring? lol
So I get onto SR52. I ''dump the clutch'' ( which got me to 7mph! with no tirespin from dry rotted 175/60/14's????) and go WOT for 30 seconds. Surprisingly i'm still under 4k rpm in first gear.
I notice the car start to decelerate, which is funny when you're at WOT.
My friend behind me yells out his window ''WHAT DID YOU DO?''
My car suddenly belched smoke like a powerplant. The front wheels lock up, and I immediately step on the clutch and coast it into a dirt lot a few feet from where I was.
The end result?
A softball size hole in the back of the block
So we towed it home.
Pictures of the engine and 4g63 swap progress soon!
