what happens when the torque converter starts to go? I've been having some issue since I did launched at the track a while back and am just trying to narrow down the problems

I'm having delay when shifting from reverse to drive, and the shifts have gotten alot more aggressive to the point that when I downshift on the interstate from 4th to 3rd I am breaking the tires loose and chirping pretty significantly. This is all without nitrous, just normal 125WHP driving.
