It just reminds me of Ford coming out with the Cobra R. That car was really no better than a Z06 (performance wise) at the time and didn't come with the ammenities of the Z06.
The CobraR wasn't meant for the street freaks. It was meant for trackers. Mustang trackers love Mustangs. They might not turn the lap times of Vipers or Vettes but they love the feel and ride and whatever else unique to their Mustang, just as Vette lovers love their Vettes, Porsche lovers love their Porsches and Viper nuts love their Vipers.
It isn't like drag racing where the most noticeable difference between cars is how quickly it does a 1/4 mile. Tracking a car amplifies every aspect of a car and those are the things a guy loves or hates about his ride.
