If you aren't at all sure what brand you want in sub/amp, I would suggest swinging by the shop and looking at the merchandise on-hand or thumbing through the catalogs (whether it is at my shop or one of the others here). Once you decide on the sub, that will dictate the enclosure and amp necessary to achieve what you are looking for. As far as WalMart wiring goes..... If you haven't opened it and it is returnable, I would rather see you use what we do in the shops (at least DB Link or something equivalent-it will be less than you paid at WalMart but of a much better "pro" quality). Install is cheap and simple to keep clean once you choose your equipment with the level of bass you are looking for. You are right though, stick with an independant shop or at least someone reputable from these forums (Dalton aka NotLadStyle). You will stay within your budget and get a quality install...
