The standby button was hooked to a relay that closed when the ignition was turned off and then tripped momentary power to close the power switch to turn it back on.
Super power whore. 7amp draw at idle and 12amps under ANY load. The sound card was a soundblaster pci 5 channel hooked to an ADS 4 channel for the mids and a Polk 300.2 for the subwoofer... which cause a whole bunch more problems being in such close proximity to the computer.
I ran a USB hub in the front with the keyboard and a mouse, I was planning on getting a touchpad but I scrapped the project before I bought it.
Keep i mind this was a few years back(like 2004) and I've learned a lot since then.
ug....... at least i was going to try a lap quick lap top with tons of ram, touch screen that worked with it, lap top stero out i'd run to a 5 channel crossover and split it out to the highs, mids, subs, etc. and i can easly set the lap top to go to standby when the power is cut and it has a dc power adaptor (one you hook to a battery)... only diff was my lap top would proably start a fire.... it has been on since 1ish and it almosted started a fire here in my apt had i not had it on a stone counter top i'd be writting from some hotel, dam thing burned my hand when i felt the bottom and put burn marks in the counter. i've learned my lesson without doing something too dumb, just thinking hard about doing something that could/would burn my car down. i'm going to just buy something made for cars. i'm sure i'll save more in the long run. (aka cost of new car)
