what he said makes plenty of sense.

like you said..."power is derived from torque"...but you forgot its also derived from RPM aswell...what you said implied that RPM is basically a bandaid for too little torque, its really not. and dont get the honda mentality that more rpm = more hp...it doesnt.

the truth is the faster 500whp car is going to be the one that has the most torque to utilize at that 500whp. hell, just look at the 400-500hp diesel trucks like the F250's and 2500 Rams...your not going to put 2-3 tons of weight in your 400hp rx7 and run quicker or remotely close to what that diesel does. why? because they are making 800+ rwtq when they are pushing 400whp.

and there is plenty of info on forced induction V8's. I know a couple of people who have bone stock 03-04 cobra's who drive them daily since they bought them, my ex's dad has almost 200k on his and hasn't had any issues with it, i know this because i looked up the service records because i was going to buy it. I've seen plenty of high mileage GN's/TTA's, all be it they are V6's, still its a boosted piston motor.

turbo V8's are a dime a dozen nowadays...everyone is on the bandwagon. its the tried and true way to go for power. so you cant say there isnt enough info on them. and a turbo setup will not shorten the life of a motor when its done properly. if that was the case, manufacturers wouldnt make them and warranty them. Now when you try to take things past their mechanical limits, then yes you are going to see the shortened lifespan. My neighbor had a Nova II with a 6-71 on a 383, he drove that thing daily since 97 or 98. he still has it and still drives it. he is running 15# on it and it's never let loose on him yet about 80k miles later. and its a heads/cam blown motor. the thing that will shorten the life of a built motor is the competence of its owner and builder. I've put together a couple of motors for people who just wanted to be cheap and run alot of bottle on it...well they got what they paid for. I've also built motors for people willing to put out the extra coin for the proper parts, and they are still running around the streets.
