i've been looking to take over payments and it can be done legally and in ways that nobody gets screwed. don't transfer the title until the car is paid off and make sure the contract states that if the buyer (person making the payments), fails to do so that you can take posession of the car. have the attorney draft it and then have both of you sign it and have him sign it as a witness and then get the contract notarized.
