The grand jury returned two indictments against Vick: that he "engaged in or promoted" dogfighting and that he inflicted "inhumane injury or pain upon certain companion animals .. by beating, killing or causing said dogs to fight other dogs." Each Class 6 state felony is punishable by one year to five years in prison.
Vick awaits a Dec. 10 sentencing in the federal case. The prosecution and defense have agreed on a recommended sentence of 12-18 months in prison, but the judge is not bound by it.
