just a quick little tid bit
first, I asked about selling the used cars, and no one said I couldn't, as long as I didn't flood the for sale sections. Then you guys started bitching about it, so I let the treads die.
Second, the lojack crap we usually sell on our new cars for a lot more than the 700 bucks we were offering it. I spent just shy of 2 hours talking with my gm about the situation lately and it started off with "sure, we can set that up, and I'll just hook you up with a cut off of each one you sell" I'm not trying to make money, and that was the point I was trying to make, if there was anything we could do to offer a discount just to help out the community. We ended up with the lojack rep on the phone and discussed with him what was going on and thats were the 700 bucks came from. Thats as low as lojack would let us go. any lower and we would be cutting into their profits and they won't let us do that. I've been pushing the lojack because i've been trying to stress the point that a simple kill switch isn't going to keep people's cars from getting stolen. prefect example, that z that was just stolen was drug up onto a flatbed. Thats the way they were doing it to the honda kids. so even if it had kill switches and loud alarms and flame throwers and electric shock handles and any other crazy thing, it wouldn't have mattered, the car is still gone. Having a little experience in this area, I know that there isn't anything you can do to prevent your car or anything for that matter, from getting stolen. If someone wants it, they are going to take it. The key is to get it back quickly and try to catch them red handed. lojack is a good way to do that. Any gps tracking device is a good way to do that. I prefer lojack because it has a different frequency than your average gps device that can get disrupted just by being in a steel building. There are several other systems you can use other than lojack. most of which have a monthly fee. knowing that most people on TR don't have the kind of budget that allows for another monthly cost, or very much money to invest in a security system, I did what I could to help. If I could get it for free for everyone who gets their oil changed for $9.95, then I would. most of you know that. I'm not sure why you guys couldn't message me directly and ask what the deal was or whatever. but if this thread helps you sleep better at night, then so be it.
